  • Overview

    The Legal Operations Manager will report to the Assistant General Counsel – Transactions and Legal Operations and be responsible for program and project management. As the first dedicated legal operations hire of a rapidly scaling legal department, the Legal Operations Manager will initially be responsible for standing up, optimizing, and administering matter management, which includes ticketing and ebilling systems for internal and external matters, respectively. The Legal Operations Manager will also assist with and track other key operational initiatives such as process mapping, document management, alternative staffing, and contract lifecycle management. The Legal Operations Manager’s brief will grow with the department as they help department leadership develop a target operating model, strategic plan, and technology roadmap. This position is a unique greenfield opportunity. 

    Responsibilities

    As the Legal Operations Manager, one is held accountable to, but not limited to the following job functions: 

     

    MATTER MANAGEMENT

    • Stand-up, optimize, and administer the legal department’s ticketing system for internal matters, including workflow design, work allocation protocols, workload monitoring, and reporting.
    • Stand-up, optimize, and administer the legal department’s electronic billing solution, including billing guideline creation and automation, internal/external training, and financial reporting.
    • Work with legal department leadership to create a unified monitoring protocol for internal and external matters, including key performance indicators, to optimize resource allocation and financial management.
    • Project Management
    • Assume project tracking responsibilities for key operational initiatives—e.g., document management, alternative staffing—lead by other department personnel.
    • Assist project leads in advancing operational initiatives—e.g., vetting technology tools or vendors.
    • Report to legal department leadership on project progress and sticking points.
    • Serve as a primary focal point and communication channel for collaborating with other departments within Revantage—e.g., IT, Finance, and HR—as well as with Blackstone.

    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

    • Support legal department leadership in creating and tracking progress against the department’s budget.
    • Develop and maintain financial reports, including key performance indicators.

    STRATEGIC PLANNING

    • Provide input to legal department leadership in designing a target operating model, devising a strategic plan, and developing a technology roadmap
    • Track and report on progress toward the target operating model

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in the legal market
    • Deep knowledge of electronic billing, including ebilling platforms, billing guidelines, LEDES, and reporting
    • Project management experience
    • Strong computer skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
    • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
    • Must be a motivated self-starter with the aptitude to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines, with attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment
    • Strong presentation and consensus-building skills, including experience summarizing data and presenting it, as well as building consensus across multiple and diverse stakeholders

     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • In-house legal experience, especially legal operations
    • Background in finance or technology
    • Advanced degree and/or project management certification
