  • The Claims Manager is responsible for managing property and liability claims management operations.  The position will be responsible for managing property and liability claims. The Claims Manager will also support the department business objectives and remain informed of the changes that occur within the company and recommend/execute changes to the program(s) as appropriate.

    As the Claims Manager, one is held accountable to, but not limited to the following job functions: 

    • Develop strong, effective working relationship with company’s management, claim personnel, property managers, and security directors to serve as primary contact for claims management.
    • Direct and oversee all aspects of company’s first party property, auto, non-litigated liability and D&O insurance claims to ensure quality claims handling; thorough loss reporting; timely responses to loss locations; coordination of payments and appropriate application of the insurance policy.
    • Maintain oversight of litigated claims and assists outside attorneys with documentation and settlement of liability claims.
    • Ensure that company’s management team are informed on large first party property losses by providing the following; likely success and estimated amounts of insurable claims; the anticipated timing of the insurer’s payments for property damage and business interruption losses and strategies being employed to secure and maximize equitable insurance recoveries.
    • Provide guidance and support to managers and internal customers with respect to claims procedures, accident reporting, and claims handling.
    • Report in a timely manner all new claims to insurance carriers and/or claims administrators and supervises their work.
    • Prepare analysis and communicates loss history information and large complex claims to management and operating companies.
    • Identify potential loss trends and risk control measures to reduce losses and consults with business partners on effective ways to reduce loss costs.
    • Ensure claims reporting processes and procedures are followed.
    • Work with Risk Analyst to ensure claim data accuracy and quality and build standardized and customized reports for stakeholders.
    • Create and maintains database of claims with appropriate documentation, adjuster contact information, and coverage position.
    • Monitor claims files, conducts claim reviews and provides routine claim status updates on open claims.
    • Ensure claim files are moving towards closure or resolution in a timely manner.
    • Responsible for excess carrier notification, updates and coordination of information to ensure contractual reporting obligations under the insurance policies.
    • Monitors policy limit erosion for all programs by year.
    • Receives incident reports from operating companies, reviews and sends to Risk Analyst.
    • Monitors large complex claims, claims that have potential coverage issues or claims denied or disputed by insurance carrier.
    • Identify and address steps which can be taken to transfer risks and/or subrogate claims to contractors and/or other third parties for all claims within Revantage deductibles.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least 8+ year’s Property and Liability Claims Experience
    • Four-year degree from an accredited college 
    • Demonstrable and current in-depth knowledge and understanding of the real estate and hotel industries and sectors, including the main products & services produced and processes used
    • First-class interpersonal skills, including relationship building & maintenance
    • Excellent communication (verbal & written), numerical, presentation & organizational skills
    • Holds, or is working towards, an appropriate professional designation (e.g. CPCU, ARM) 
    • Demonstrate strong leadership/teamwork skills
    • Effective reasoning and decision-making skills

    • Ability to prioritize work
    • Ability to meet deadlines and follow up in a timely manner

    • The candidate must have a proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems, particularly Excel.
