  • FP&A Analyst - BRE Hotels

  • As a member of the Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis department at BRE Hotels & Resorts, the FP&A Analyst provides operational, financial and analytical support and reporting to multiple departments including Asset Management, Acquisitions and Design & Construction. The FP&A Analyst will play an integral role, collaborating closely with management to analyze and identify opportunities for growth and profitability. The support provided enables our Executive team to make critical decisions that drive overall business performance. This position is a great mid-level opportunity to interact with senior leadership on a daily basis, while gaining invaluable exposure to all facets of the hotel industry. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, Finance.

    As the FP&A Analyst, one is held accountable to, however not limited to, the following job functions:

    • Utilize business intelligence tools to obtain data, build reports and provide effective analysis
    • Gather hotel industry intelligence and market research from various external sources
    • Assist in the preparation of quarterly Board of Directors presentation materials
    • Interpret company performance to address identified business challenges and improvement opportunities
    • Provide ROI analysis ensuring the right financial approaches and resources are brought to bear
    • Partner in the development of complex forecasting models and analytics to improve operational efficiencies
    • Design and implementation of analytical tools for the organization to help manage and support the business
    • Conduct extensive research and perform financial analysis on the hospitality and real estate industry
    • Support key financial planning processes for the company, including analyzing profit and growth objectives, as well as company-wide long-range plan and annual budget processes
    • Identify opportunities to create efficiencies and automate data collection/reporting processes
    • Create various ad hoc reports and perform analysis as required

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 1-3 years of related business experience
    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Hospitality/Hotel Management, Business, Finance, or Real Estate
    • Attention to Detail
    • Intellectual curiosity
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and PowerPoint, with an emphasis on database and Business Intelligence tools
    • Solid understanding of foundational accounting (P&L, Balance Sheet, Journal Entries), as well as traditional finance cycle (Annual Plan, Forecast, etc.)
    • Firm grasp of technical corporate finance concepts (NPV, IRR, cost of capital)
    • Innovative financial analysis, forecasting and modeling skills with the ability to translate analysis quickly into practical results
    • Proven ability and maturity to work and learn new systems in a fast paced and dynamic environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels in the organization
    • Smart, hard-working, details-oriented, proactive, ambitious and responsible, with strong interpersonal skills and teamwork/partnering ability
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, working both independently and as part of a team to ensure timely deliverables
