  • Sr Specialist - Data Scientist

  • The Sr Specialist - Data Scientist will be hands-on, intellectually curious, and self-learning.  Focused on delivering results, the candidate will use a variety of modeling and algorithmic techniques to deliver insights to support commercial real-estate decision making.  The individual will have familiarity with product analytics, marketing analytics, web analytics, business analytics, and customer value. Responsibilities will include developing algorithmic and rule-based models and analytic capabilities based on rules engine, machine learning, mathematical modeling, pattern recognition, and data mining techniques.  Will perform data analysis and modeling using a variety of analytic techniques, tools, and programming languages to provide business insight and product analytics.

    As the Sr Specialist - Data Scientist, one is held accountable to, however not limited to, the following job functions: 

    • Perform complex data analysis on large volumes of property and market data and present model performance to stakeholders
    • Create model reports for stakeholder review and model documentation
    • Create data derivation and linkage through algorithm and/or data rules
    • Create and select predictive features from raw data
    • Perform pattern recognition model creation and training using various types of algorithms and machine learning modeling techniques for unknown or less well-defined – an unknown problem, solve new problems (e.g., clustering, logistic regression, neural networks, CART, support vector machines, boosting trees, supervised and unsupervised models)
    • Develop analytics tool using SQL, R, Python, Spark and other big data tools such as Tableau, Talend Open Studio, Skytree Server, and Splunk
    • Develop analytics solutions using traditional database technology such as SQL and big data technology such as Hadoop, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Riak, CouchDB, and Neo4j, NoSQL databases
    • QA and analyze large amounts of data to create appropriate data sets for model building
    • Conduct defined quantitative and qualitative research projects independently and communicates research results to internal and external stakeholders
    • Deploy production models and design efficient methods to maintain model integrity over time
    • Performs other duties as assigned


    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in machine learning, computer science, math, statistics or an engineering field, or equivalent work experience
    • Ability to thrive in a team environment and adapt to quickly changing priorities
    • 4-8 years of directly related experience
    • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to quickly and efficiently adapt to new concepts.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical techniques
    • Data mining/data analysis experience
    • Machine Learning/AI: familiar with many supervised model types including Generalized Linear Models, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting Machines, Support Vector Machines, Deep Learning Neural Nets, Ensemble Learning/Stacking. Unsupervised model types like Principal Component Analysis, K-means clustering, Hierarchical Clustering, Autoenconders
    • Building models for highly imbalanced data sets. Bias/Variance tradeoff. Model quality metrics like Rsquared, AUC. Outlier detection and removal
