Accountant - Multifamily

Job Locations US-Chicago

The Accountant - Multifamily is responsible to perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including reconciliations, account analysis, and review of financial reports/support for Blackstone portfolio companies and Revantage.  The Accountant - Multifamily will ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and resolve accounting related issues. This position is based out of Revantage’s headquarters in Chicago, IL.


Revantage Corporate Services, an affiliated company of Blackstone, was created in August 2017 to provide consultative services consisting of People & Culture, Finance, Tax, Legal, Risk Management and Technology to real estate portfolio companies owned by Blackstone funds, in various sectors including multifamily (LivCor), commercial office (Equity Office), retail (ShopCore), hotel (BRE Hotels & Resorts), and industrial (Link).  As Revantage expands, we may provide services to additional Blackstone companies. 




  • Perform monthly/quarterly account analysis and roll-forwards of selected general ledger accounts to ensure accounts properly reflect the company’s financial position in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
  • Review ledger detail, record adjusting journal entries, and prepare supporting schedules for GAAP-based financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of property financial statements and work papers monthly.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements, including footnote disclosures, and supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate with the treasury team to ensure that all financing transactions are properly and timely accounted for.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts for portfolio companies and stand-alone investments.
  • Review property-level financial results prepared by a third-party to ensure results properly reflect the company’s financial position and are in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries as needed.
  • Assess and react to changing business conditions, in terms of their impact to the organization they lead.
  • Provide oral and written presentations on new business workflows, as well as high complex functional documentation in strategic technical or functional reports.
  • Ensure team’s processes and procedures support the department’s goals according to guidelines and policies.
  • Transaction Accounting (e.g. acquisition, disposition and other similar transactions)


Relationship Management

  • Accountable to Multifamily Asset Portfolio Company’s satisfaction with the accounting team’s performance, responsiveness, and interactions.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure smooth business partner experience across the team.
  • Become day-to-day go-to person for Revantage business partners, Multifamily Asset and Blackstone.
  • Respond to business partner inquiries and commit to deliverables by leveraging resources across the team.
  • Partner with senior managers to identify and drive external relationships with the team’s key. contacts and stakeholders including third party accounting departments and third-party operators accounting teams.
  • Assist other PC’s during Project initiatives on an as-needed basis.


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Finance, Accounting or closely related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in cost accounting, financial analysis and general accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software and databases (ARGUS, Workday, Yardi)
  • Proficient understanding of financial models, corporate financials and regulatory market
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Available for limited travel

  • Real estate knowledge
