Link Industrial Properties is Blackstone’s U.S. industrial real estate operating platform. Link currently manages a national portfolio of high-quality, well-located industrial assets totaling over 400 million square feet throughout the U.S. 

 

In this newly created role, the Vice President, Environmental Sustainability will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for the development, implementation and communication of a successful environmental and sustainability strategy across the portfolio. The successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically and translate research and insights into viable recommendations for action. This leader will serve as the subject matter expert for sustainability and environmental impact by assessing emerging trends, staying current on environmental programs across peer companies and communicate/educate others on topics relevant to Link’s business. S/he will work with Link senior leadership and Blackstone senior management to implement, track and report on best practices across the portfolio.  The successful candidate will serve as a champion of Link’s sustainability programs and will be able to present to a diverse set of stakeholders including C-suite officers, industry sustainability leaders, Operators, and Blackstone Senior Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Designing, implementing, and administering the organization’s sustainability strategy by:  
    • Identifying applications for existing strategies and technology and also new innovations
    • Developing metrics, analyze and track progress and report out on initiatives to senior management and Blackstone
    • Communicating program strategy, goals, metrics and playbooks to various levels, C-suite to asset level site management teams
    • Creating awareness and promoting engagement with educational communications highlighting success stories and case studies
  • Collaborating with C-suite leadership on approaches to improve the environmental impact of the portfolio, reduce energy consumption, add value and improve tenant well-being
  • Providing required information to Blackstone functions responsible for data, performance improvement, procurement, and communication associated with energy and environmental performance
  • Functioning as the primary contact on all sustainability related items for the company.
  • Establishing and maintaining sustainability partnerships with peers as well as sustainability leaders and influencers.
  • Remain current and identify opportunity areas for ESG & Sustainability trends.
  • Serving as an ambassador for Link at notable sustainability conferences and relevant industry events.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • A BA or BS in Real Estate, Engineering, Sustainability or Environmental Science is preferred
  • Strong network within sustainability, environmental and other related communities required
  • Outstanding interpersonal & communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, independent and results oriented with the ability to motivate and engage direct and indirect team members and stakeholders
  • Leadership role in managing complex projects
  • Proven track record of senior stakeholder management and influence
  • Ability to balance the importance of a sustainability position within a fast-paced investment setting
