We are seeking a Sr. Director, Data Engineering to lead our Data Engineering team. The purpose of this role is to develop and iterate on Revantage’s industry leading real estate data platformWe are looking for a seasoned software engineering practitioner who is comfortable leading teams of data engineers in the development and maintenance of scaled data pipelines, ETL systems, and reporting environments. Ideal leaders at Revantage have technical depth and breadth, but are comfortable developing, empowering, and mentoring those they work with to deliver higher quality software, faster. We expect candidates for this role to have a track record of success in this subject area.  This position will be based out of Revantage’s headquarters in Chicago, IL. 


  • Oversee the development of Revantage North America’s data platform 
  • Actively grow and mentor a team of data engineers 
  • Actively contribute to the code base and SDLC activities for your architectural areas 
  • Own and develop the architectural standards and collaborate on technical vision-setting in conjunction with the VP, Engineering, Tech Leads, and Product Managers 
  • Work in close collaboration with product management to ensure software is developed that anticipates future needs and maintains option value 



  • STEM B.S., M.S. or comparable experience 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience within a data engineering team 
  • Demonstrated hands-on Engineering experience delivering enterprise-grade data, analytics, reporting, or machine learning products/solutions 
  • Significant experience in data modeling and API design 
  • Significant experience building a platform (not an application or a single utility site) 
  • Experience in designing, building and running highly available and highly reliable distributed systems 
  • Familiarity with issues of web performance, availability, scalability, reliability, and maintainability of data pipelines  
  • Extensive experience working with RDBMS, OLAP, and non-relational database systems (Aurora, SQL Server, Redshift, Synapse, Big Query, Redis, et al) 
  • Experience in SRE or DevOps approaches 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to work well with and enthusiastically influence teams & stakeholders 
  • Strong mentorship, relationship management, project management, problem solving and change management skills 
  • Excellent planning skills coupled with a strong oral and written communications capabilities 
  • Experience leading and managing a team of direct reports
