Why this role is valuable

The role is responsible for promoting and protecting Blackstone Real Estate’s reputation as a leading player in the Real Estate sector. The successful candidate will work closely with Blackstone Public Affairs, our real estate business, and our portfolio companies, across various asset classes on all communications matters, serving as a key advisor to the leadership team and C-Suite. This individual will be responsible for developing and leading the overall communications strategy, including media relations, crisis management, and driving our ESG efforts to the external market.

 

We seek a strategic leader and creative thinker with a track record of supporting complex organizations in all aspects of communication. The successful candidate is a team player with a can-do attitude and the ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders across several organizations, including Blackstone Public Affairs.

What you’ll be doing

Managing and coordinating communications across our hospitality portfolio, including BRE Hotels and Resorts, as well as other key portfolio assets such as Longview Senior Housing Advisors, Simply Self Storage and ShopCore Properties. Key aspects of the role include:

 

Corporate Communications

  • Develop and execute communications strategies that support business objectives.
  • Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership teams regarding reputational threats and opportunities. Proactively develop communication strategies and crisis management plans; establish a process to rapidly act as needed.
  • Develop communication materials for CEO and executive leadership team, including messaging and talking points, Q&As, briefings, employee communications, social and digital content, and other written materials.
  • Collaborate across the organizations to communicate key business milestones, including but not limited to acquisitions, hires and ESG initiatives.
  • In partnership with Blackstone communications team, manage communication agency partner relationships.
  • Manage media relations, building strong networks with key stakeholders and partners.

External Relations

  • Lead a regular cadence of outreach and education to key external stakeholders on issues of strategic importance each business.
  • Support execution of executive media engagement programs and speaking engagements; review/draft and approval of supporting materials such as key message documents, Q&A, and other briefing materials.
  • Manage crisis communications, coordinating relevant teams to develop integrated strategy.

Skills & Experience

  • The ability to build an effective network of relationships with key external decision makers as a means of influencing and enhancing organizational reputation.
  • Experience of developing successful communications strategies which are effectively deployed across multiple audiences.
  • Strong ability to understand, clearly synthesize, and integrate complex issues in presentations, messaging documents and other communication(s) with key senior-level internal and external audiences.
  • Relationship driven, with an ability to work autonomously, whilst maintaining a coordinated approach with the Blackstone communications team.
  • Proven experience in managing traditional and social media relations.
  • Personal credibility in front of senior internal and external audiences.
