WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

Under the direction of Senior Vice President - Tax, will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for Blackstone’s industrial real estate investments.  Gathers information, plans strategies, research tax laws and corresponds with agencies and outside consultants, as necessary.

 

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • Prepares and reviews federal, state, and local tax workpapers and tax returns for Blackstone’s industrial partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, and real estate investment trust (REIT) returns on a timely basis
  • Manages and maintains Class B Partner activity, which includes completing K-1 estimates and K-1 reporting packages, tracking partner redemptions, and partner non-resident withholding tax compliance
  • Manages Tax Seniors daily activity by maintaining a tax due date calendar and internal projects.  
  • Ability to train & develop tax team for best practices, standards, policies, and workflows
  • Prepares/reviews tax and PTP projections for Blackstone on a quarterly or as needed basis
  • Gathers management and accounting information in the preparation of the tax return workpapers. 
  • Obtains any necessary clarification, requests additional information, and communicates with various departments concerning any problems that arise Incorporates information from Yardi into tax return workpapers
  • Reviews corporate and partnership legal documents and correspondence as needed to ensure correct preparation of tax returns
  • Conducts research as necessary to determine compliance with tax laws 
  • Prepares disposition workpapers including gain/loss calculations on asset and entity sales as well as like kind exchanges
  • Demonstrates a high attention to detail 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task responsibilities under tight deadlines
  • Research, resolves, and responds to state and federal regulatory agencies’ notices.  Corresponds with federal and state taxing agencies in connection with penalty notices and filing inquiries as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and CPA required
  • Minimum 8 years of federal, state, and local partnership tax experience and/or REIT tax compliance experience
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets and tax preparation software

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Tax
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in public accounting tax department or equivalent
  • Experience with Yardi and FAS
