WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The primary responsibility of the Sr. AVP, DataOps is establishing best in class Data Quality and Reliability Engineering practices for building and running Data and Analytics pipelines and products. You will work with Data & Analytics leadership to set targets for the DataOps function, evaluate conformance to information asset policies, and provide the organization’s data stewards with focused direction and refine policy as needed. You will collaborate heavily with Technology and Data teams, as well as business stakeholders and data consumers to review and approve policies, establish scope of the program, and document related processes and practices.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • Drive DataOps, Quality, and Reliability Engineering through automation of testing, monitoring, and observability of data pipelines and related software components and products
  • Lead and manage a team of QA, SDET, and DevOps engineers, holding team members accountable to a high standard of excellence
  • Lead by example, following a hands-on approach to drive the team to success
  • Drive the creation and adoption of common testing frameworks that simplify test automation
  • Automate and execute quality requirements and rules to continuously monitor and troubleshoot data quality and data integrity issues
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards, and adoption requirements across the enterprise
  • Perform problem and trend analyses to identify and correct repetitive problems and increase overall data quality
  • Monitor data, data pipelines, and related software components for end-to-end business applications or infrastructure in order to proactively identify or resolve problems
  • Develop processes and solutions to monitor and manage the runtime operations of the selected technology solutions including driving defect and root cause analysis for technology defects
  • Ensure appropriate application performance management activities are in place to ensure continuous high performing application performance and scalability including continuous monitoring and alerting frameworks
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and ownership mentality
  • Understand concepts and technology related to data architecture and analytics including data modeling, reference and master data management and data transformation; Provide guidance on instituting and controls to ensure data quality
  • Excellent communication skills used to influence, support, and engage council members across business functions

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in software and data engineering, including automated quality assurance and reliability engineering
  • Solid experience with Cloud engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, SDLC, automated testing, release automation, application performance monitoring, production operations, and software quality assurance
  • Strong experience with architecting and deploying quality, highly available and resilient cloud enabled solutions including use of serverless computing technologies for applications
  • Solid technical background, with hands-on experience in practicing and leading automated quality testing, performance testing, and reliability engineering
  • Experience working or leading efforts related to deployment of Data and Analytics platforms including data ingestion, data transformation, data warehouses, and visual analytics
  • Thoughtful practitioner of software engineering methodologies, frameworks, and tools including structured software engineering methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and RUP
  • Strong Agile development background
  • Experience and commitment to leveraging the use of modeling and documentation approaches including the use of modeling standards like UML and visual modeling tools
  • Strong experience with enterprise application integration and frameworks
  • Ability to initiate and lead direct collaboration efforts of multiple teams
  • Experience with and knowledge of privacy and security standards, policies, and implementation
  • Exposure to data integration and management in a complex environment
