WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE   

The role of Fixed Assets Accountant completes all monthly fixed asset activities related to the hospitality fixed asset investments owned by Blackstone, managed by BRE Hotels, and held within the BREIT and BREP Funds. The role is responsible for preparing, analyzing and reporting on the hospitality fixed asset investments, both additions and dispositions, at the asset level, investment level and a consolidated level (BRE Hotels overall or Fund level). A successful Fixed Assets Accountant is knowledgeable about real estate principles (GAAP), has a strong business acumen and an ability to multitask internal and external requests. This role is based out of Revantage headquarters in Chicago, IL. 

HOW YOU ADD VALUE  

  • Responsible for the monthly closing process for fixed assets 
  • Prepares supporting schedules and reconciliations to support the general ledger account balances 
  • Reconciles asset addition details with the trial balance feed from third party properties and communicate any variance with the properties 
  • Prepares and reconciles monthly CIP monthly roll forwards and distributes reporting to the project managers 
  • Prepares fixed asset additions to load into FAS 
  • Provides world class customer experience to BRE Hotels, Blackstone and the operators to meet service level agreement expectations. 
  • Ad-hoc projects such as assisting with process improvements, enhancing current templates via MS Excel 
  • Assist with the acquisition and disposition of assets 
  • Provide assistance with audits 
  • Partners with the operators to standardize procedures 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE 

Required:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Finance, Accounting or closely related field  
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in general accounting and fixed assets 
  • Experience with accounting ERP systems and other accounting software 
  • Must have knowledge of US GAAP 
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office 
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (VLOOKUPpivot tables) 
  • Passion for making business processes more efficient and successful 
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills necessary 
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team environment 

Preferred: 

  • Real estate knowledge 
  • Hospitality accounting experience
