Why This Role Is Valuable  

As part of the Revantage legal team, the Regulatory Counsel will directly support Blackstone’s growing U.S. Multi-Family presence, through working with LivCor and various joint ventures. By staying ahead of emerging regulatory trends this role will support this portfolio’s growth as a leader and innovator in the Multi-Family industry. This position provides a great opportunity to develop skills as a well-rounded in-house counsel and is ideal for a business-oriented attorney with strong customer service and organizational skills and the ability to learn quickly. This position is preferred to be based out of the Revantage headquarters in Chicago, IL or can be based out of our New York, NY or Dallas, TX offices. For the right candidate, we are willing to consider a fully remote position with mandatory monthly travel to Chicago, IL.

How You Add Value

Primary Regulatory Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Company's Head of Legal Compliance on the regulatory compliance program for the nationwide Multi-Family portfolio that Revantage supports
  • Serve as a dedicated legal resource for regulatory issues affecting the Multi-Family business at a federal and state level
  • Identify and respond to existing and emerging regulatory requirements impacting the Multi-Family business line on a day-to-day basis
  • Engage with and coordinate with key stakeholders on regulatory questions
  • Work closely with external regulatory counterparts at various third-party entities, including property managers, to communicate and implement internal regulatory policy positions
  • Oversee external counsel tracking of key Multi-Family regulatory matters
  • Read, analyze and interpret governmental regulations related to the Multi-Family business
  • Communicate regulatory updates on a proactive basis to key stakeholders and operational teams
  • Report accomplishments on an ongoing basis

Other Responsibilities:

  • Support roles in a variety of legal department initiatives aimed at the implementation of process and technology improvements to build Revantage Legal into a best-in-class legal department
  • Liaise with corporate operations legal team to implement required regulatory updates into form contracts and advise on regulatory impacts for new initiatives/process changes
  • Support special projects and ad hoc requests of other attorneys.
  • Optional travel, including potential to participate in site visits, off-sites, and conferences

What You Bring To The Role


  • Minimum 6 years of relevant regulatory experience preferably in house with a real estate company
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • A Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and admission to (or eligibility for admission to) the bar of Illinois
  • Prior experience in the Multi-Family real estate sector
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Must have strong drafting, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and SmartSheet
