Why This Role Is Valuable  

The SVP Corporate Tax is responsible for the oversight of the tax and reporting functions for Corporate tax. This role will provide leadership and direct supervision of the Corporate Tax Department and will oversee all operations and daily functions of the department to ensure that tax procedures are in compliance with all federal, state and local tax laws and regulations, while working to minimize direct and indirect tax liabilities.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Tax team
  • Act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local tax laws and regulations, while working to minimize direct and indirect tax liabilities
  • Monitor federal and state tax legislations, regulations, and judicial activities and keep senior leadership informed of pending changes or requirements and their potential impacts
  • Establish strategies to minimize tax expense and exposures from taxes paid to federal, state, property taxes, sales and use taxes and other indirect taxes
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing tax policy and overall preparation of corporate tax returns
  • Represent and defend the tax position of the organization to tax regulating bodies during audits or reviews
  • Review and approve tax estimates and projections, as well as the completion of required tax filings, forms, and correspondences and quarterly withholdings/estimated payments
  • Develop and execute tax planning and compliance strategies
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for investors and company’s board of directors
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns
  • Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Serve as the key point of contact for internal and external auditors in support of audit activities
  • Develop and set goals/objectives for the tax department and monitor performance against goals


  • Liaise with senior management in deciding on processes, and procedures to apply in the department and across the entire business
  • Partner with department heads across the business in supporting their accounting activities, guiding them through the process(es), interpreting the progress, and informing them of the financial implications
  • Collaborate with audit firm personnel in all matters regarding auditing and tax
  • Ensure the management of financial records and department documentation
  • Prepare management reports in reflection of the revenue end of period processes
  • Ensure departmental compliance with state tax requirements as well as with accepted accounting principles
  • Recommend appropriate strategies to ensure adherence to governance structures and application of best practice internal controls

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintains collaborative relationships across business units at all levels
  • Partner with senior managers to identify and drive external relationships with the team’s key contacts and stakeholders
  • Exhibit the ability to gain consensus in cooperation from multiple stakeholders
  • Manage 3rd party provider relationships to provide oversight and ensure quality
  • Lead initiatives to ensure smooth business partner experience across the team
  • Communicate impacts of findings from analysis of accounting deliverables to executive leadership of PC’s, Blackstone and Revantage

 People Management

  • Directly supervises the Corporate Tax Directors
  • Indirectly supervises various Managers and Tax Analysts
  • Structure teams, processes, and individual roles to most effectively support the business
  • Continuously review and refine organization as business requirements and strategies change
  • Build strong leadership and career development opportunities on all teams they manage
  • Maintain/ Manage relationship with Consulting/Contracting vendors

Process & Technology Improvements

  • Prove willing to innovate and set pace
  • Leverage risk management and process expertise to identify and drive solutions that span teams
  • Act as subject matter expert regarding specification of requirements
  • Act as a subject matter expert regarding prioritization of technology and process improvements
  • Serve as sponsor / champion for technology and process improvement initiatives, ensuring initiatives have clear, well defined scope, that is in alignment with organization’s objectives, and has the resources and support necessary to be successful

What You Bring To The Role


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Finance, Accounting or closely related field
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis and general accounting
  • Minimum 5 years performing at a supervisory level
  • Must have knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, accounting software and databases (ARGUS, Workday, Yardi)
  • Requires understanding of financial modes, corporate financials and regulatory market
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be expected (10-25%)


  • Master’s Degree
  • Real estate knowledge
  • Certifications/Licenses: CPA certification
