WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The Paralegal, Transactional (Capital Markets) will assist real estate capital markets attorneys in connection with capital markets transactions and other real estate matters.  This role will work with the legal teams at Revantage and Blackstone as well as with members of the various Blackstone portfolio companies (based out of multiple states).  In addition, the role will interact and work closely with the following departments: capital markets/treasury, due diligence, environmental/engineering, risk services, financial analysis, financial reporting, accounting, income tax and property tax, as well as with regional and local portfolio company personnel responsible for individual properties and projects.  This position can be based out of Revantage’s headquarters in Chicago, IL or New York, NY.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

Transactional Capital Markets Functions:

• Assist attorneys (both in-house and outside counsel) with due diligence and closing of a wide range of real estate capital markets transactions
• Order and analyze title commitments, surveys and zoning reports, and liaise with outside counsel and title companies, surveyors and third-party vendors as needed on incorporating revisions to title proformas, surveys and other reports
• Coordinate completion of various title- and survey-related affidavits
• Gather and organize due diligence materials in connection with capital markets transactions
• Prepare and coordinate negotiation and completion of estoppel certificates
• Assist with completion of KYC forms
• Collaborate with various parties regarding lender search results and questions pertaining thereto
• Manage representations and warranties confirmation process
• Prepare or request organizational documents for entities in connection with real estate capital markets transactions, including requesting certified copies formation documents or good standings, maintaining depository of precedent organizational documents and coordinating engagement of independent managers for each transaction Actively participate in all closing activities, including obtaining signatures and maintaining organized copies of closing documents
• Assist with post-closing obligations

Administrative Functions:

• Maintain Updated Workflow Mapping
• Manage calendar, time entry, expense reports and internal reporting
• Code and submit legal invoices
• Project Management of Legal Operations Initiatives

Office support (FedEx, copying, scanning, downloading, and saving closing books and obtaining copies from law firms for past or present deals)

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a law firm or equivalent in-house position working as a paralegal on complex real estate financing transactions
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Strong drafting, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Strong aptitude to learn and master technology

• Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills

Preferred:

• Paralegal certificate
