WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE  

The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for Blackstone’s real estate investments. One will gather information, plan strategies, research tax laws, and correspond with agencies as necessary. This position is in Fort Washington, PA.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • Prepare/review federal, state, and local tax returns for Blackstone’s partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, and real estate investment (REIT) returns on a timely basis
  • Gather management and accounting information; Obtain any necessary clarification, request additional information, and communicate with various departments concerning any problems that arise
  • Conduct research as necessary to determine compliance with tax laws; Read periodicals to maintain knowledge about changing tax laws, planning opportunities, filing requirements, etc.
  • Prepare/review federal and state extension requests and quarterly estimated payments for the various companies
  • Prepare/review federal tax returns and various state returns.
  • Prepare/review tax projections for Blackstone on a quarterly or as needed basis
  • Research, resolve and respond to state and federal regulatory agencies’ notices
  • Correspond with federal and state taxing agencies in connection with penalty notices and filing inquiries as needed
  • Review corporate and partnership legal documents and correspondence as needed to ensure correct preparation of tax returns
  • Identify tax issues and assist in research and resolution of issues concerning particular tax returns
  • Prepare/review REIT Tests to ensure compliance with the REIT rules
  • Self-motivation, determination, and initiative in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task responsibilities under tight deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a public accounting or tax department
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate and partnership federal and state taxation
  • Detail oriented and possess strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with spreadsheets and tax preparation software

Preferred:

  • Advanced tax degree
  • CPA certification
  • Experience with FAS2000 and working knowledge of Yardi
