The deputy Head of Data Product and Engineering performs day-to-day operations to support and augment the overall responsibilities of the Head of Data Product and Engineering. The Data Product and Engineering org delivers Data products in the real estate domain to enable operations, analytics and business decision making for stakeholders (Blackstone, Revantage Finance and Portfolio Companies managing various assets) and consists of functions like Product Management, Data Engineering, Architecture, Data Visualizations, UX, QA, DevOps, etc. Under the direction of the Head of Data Product and Engineering, this role will exercise leadership and apply knowledge and experience in software development and data management methodologies to deliver outcomes across the technology, process, and people dimensions, following Agile Delivery principles.


  • Assist the Head of Data Product and Engineering in leading the Data organization, acting as a substitute when required
  • Define and drive overall strategy for the Data Product and Engineering org to deliver the business outcomes
  • Design, plan and implement the org structure, capabilities, and operating model to support company and department vision and strategy
  • Plan headcount and staffing based on short and long-term demand, goals, and objectives; recruit and hire talent accordingly
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality Data products and solutions that delight customers
  • Oversee delivery teams and processes based on Agile principles, autonomy, ownership, and accountability
  • Lead and drive change management to enable efficiency, continuous improvement, modernization, and long-term success
  • Define org goals and KPIs to establish alignment, drive execution, create accountability, and measure success
  • Establish and maintain relationships and short feedback loops with business stakeholders and customers to understand customer needs and turn feedback into actionable insights and measurable outcomes
  • Drive innovation and influence customers to adopt best technologies, capabilities, and solutions for long term success
  • Define, communicate, and drive adoption of appropriate culture tenets and values (company values, functional excellence, Agile, word-class quality, ownership, etc.)
  • Define employee expectations, drive individual accountability, empower, coach, guide, motivate, manage employee careers and performance
  • Drive operational excellence, by defining and running processes driven by standards, metrics, and checkpoints, within the overall Company and Department Operating Model
  • Institute and drive technology excellence, based on best practices, high standards, reusability, built-in quality, architecture focus, Platform adoption, and configurability over customization
  • Drive discipline around creating and maintaining proper documentation and track records
  • Drive collaboration and partnerships with PMO, Operations, Security, Data Governance, Senior Leadership, Business stakeholders and Customers
  • Maintain financial responsibility through proper budget monitoring and management
  • Run assessments and collect feedback to identify, evaluate and mitigate risks and uncertainty
  • Establish and run mechanisms to ensure compliance and security
  • Foster strong relationships with internal business units and external entities to maintain a strong network



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A Player/Coach; Mentor; Team Builder who thrives in dynamic & federated environments
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success in leading large, cross-functional software teams, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in building and delivering software and data solutions using the full software development cycle
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with business leaders and with some fiscal responsibilities
  • Experience with data technologies and development of Data solutions and products
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and development of Cloud-enabled solutions and products (Azure, AWS)
  • Experience delivering complex projects within budget and scope
  • Experience in technology evaluation and build vs buy decision making
  • Ability to define clear vision and goals and drive their achievement through effective leadership
  • Ability to address tactical issues in the short term while maintaining strategic vision for the long term
  • Strong customer focus and ability to drive a customer-centric organizational culture
  • Strong product mindset and technology skills
  • Ability to think critically and ensure technology solutions meet business requirements
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence others
