This position can be based in either Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX.

WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

This role works directly with the Blackstone transaction team to provide insurance estimates, review coverage, and ensure lender compliance for real estate acquisitions across multiple asset classes. The role collaborates across multiple departments in a fast paced environment to deliver meaningful cost savings to acquisitions.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE 

  • Deliver high quality and clear risk management guidance as an integral part of all Blackstone’s transactions; ensure adequate insurance is in place at close 
  • Consistently adhere to deal standards for estimate delivery, communication, tracking and due diligence best practices
  • Manage broker relationships to establish processes allowing for prompt turnaround of deliverables
  • Partner closely with investment professionals to explain and evaluate the risks of any transaction, whether they arise in transaction documentation, diligence, or otherwise
  • Train and develop deal teams to be sensitized to risk management issues at the investment and organizational levels
  • Determine optimal insurance coverage and price for each deal by evaluating risk characteristics throughout the due diligence period
  • Utilize internal Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) to manage deal flow and communicate transaction specific information
  • Effectively interact with company’s risk team, brokers, RMIS vendors and insurers in communicating company’s risk related goals and objectives
  • Manage (from a risk management perspective) acquisitions made by company including a due diligence risk / insurance budget and implementation of appropriate risk management treatments to handle the exposures
  • Participate in forums, risk management educational programs and other educational opportunities to stay abreast of emerging issues affecting risks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, (Computational/Quantitative) Finance, Economics or related field
  • Minimum 5-10 years overall risk experience
  • Demonstrable and current in-depth knowledge and understanding of the real estate industry
  • First-class interpersonal skills, including relationship building and maintenance
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), numerical, presentation & organizational skills
  • The ability to travel 10-15% domestically
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where superior time-management and prioritization skills are essential
