Why This Role Is Valuable 

The AVP, Corporate Tax is responsible for the accurate and timely review and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for Blackstone’s real investments including office, apartments, industrial, hotel, and retail. This role will also gather information, plan strategies, research tax laws and correspond with agencies as necessary. This position is based out of Revantage’s headquarters in Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX.

  • Review federal, state, and local tax returns for Blackstone’s real estate partnerships, corporations, and REITs on a timely basis
  • Maintain the tax log to ensure compliance with all filing deadlines
  • Review the filing of federal and state extension requests, quarterly estimated payments, and non-resident partner withholding for the various companies
  • Review income tax and E&P projections for Blackstone’s real estate investments on a monthly basis or as needed
  • Coordinate IRS and state income, franchise and sales tax audits, and other correspondence
  • Review REIT compliance testing on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Review corporate and partnership legal documents and correspondence as needed to ensure correct preparation of tax returns
  • Review 704(c) and 752 allocations as necessary for various joint venture tax returns
  • Conduct research as necessary to determine compliance with tax laws
  • Read periodicals to maintain knowledge about changing tax laws, planning opportunities, filing requirements, etc.; Train and develop the staff and seniors
  • Manage tax seniors and staff, provide direction, establish priorities and goals, and ensure resources are available to accomplish goals
  • Determine staffing and training needs and conduct performance and salary reviews
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring To The Role


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a public accounting tax department or equivalent
  • People Management experience, supervising and leading others
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate and federal and state taxation
  • Detail oriented and possess strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills


  • Advanced degree in tax and CPA
  • Computer literacy, including experience with spreadsheets and tax preparation software. Experience with Sage Fixed Assets (FAS)
