WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The Sr. AVP, Corporate Tax will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance for Blackstone’s Industrial real estate investments. This position is based out of Revantage’s headquarters in Chicago, IL.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • Review federal, state, and local tax returns for Blackstone’s Industrial real estate partnerships, corporations, and REITs on a timely basis; Maintain a tax log to ensure compliance with all filing deadlines
  • Oversee the filing of federal and state extension requests and quarterly estimated payments
  • Review REIT compliance testing on a quarterly and annual basis and advise on tax technical matters including ruling requests and tax filings
  • Draft tax disclosures for SEC filings, ASC 740 and FIN 48 memorandum along with documentation of Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements
  • Review corporate and partnership legal documents and correspondence as needed to ensure correct preparation of tax returns
  • Assist the VP with resolving tax issues for potential acquisitions, dispositions, or mergers
  • Respond to partner and investor inquiries on a timely basis
  • Review income tax and E&P projections on a quarterly basis or as needed
  • Manage IRS and state income, franchise and sales tax audits, and other correspondence
  • Assist the VP in planning compliance activities and coordinate the flow of work between and amongst the tax staff
  • Coordinate staff development activities including developing internal training sessions, selecting external training courses, and assigning and reviewing research projects

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in the tax department of a public accounting firm or real estate company
  • Prior experience in real estate investment trust and partnership federal and state taxation issues required
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Computer literacy, including experience with spreadsheets and tax software.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Sage FAS
