Investment Associate, Blackstone Portfolio Company

Blackstone is looking to add an Investment Associate to one of its Portfolio Companies in Charlotte, NC.


The Investment Associate will interact closely with brokers, sellers, and senior leaders within the organization while taking on responsibilities to help execute complex transactions. This highly visible role provides the opportunity to join a dynamic and rapidly growing company as an integral member of the Investments team. This position also involves a significant role in business transactions including owner communication, supervision of analysts and the underwriting process, and continued hands-on training.

What You Will Do

  • Identify potential investment opportunities which meet the investment objectives identified by Blackstone
  • Direct and coordinate analyzing, underwriting, preparing, and presenting investment reports, as well as negotiate investment documentation while engaging in due diligence and coordinating closings for acquisitions, all in close collaboration with senior Blackstone professionals
  • Work closely with the portfolio company CEO to coordinate national investment processes, pipeline tracking and deal progress
  • Perform market tracking, comparative lease and sale analyses, and create models to help evaluate investment opportunities
  • Coordinate with Blackstone and senior portfolio company team members nationwide on all reporting presentations and financial analysis requirements
  • Create marketing and company overview materials
  • Keep a pulse on transaction and leasing activity, competitive market participants and macro shifts within the assigned market(s)/regions
  • Work closely with the brokerage community, third-party consultants, and junior staff to track sale activity
  • Work collaboratively with team members in other markets/regions and the asset management team


 Required Education & Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial real estate or investment banking preferred
  • BA or BS in Finance, Real Estate Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or related disciplines. Other majors will be considered
  • Ability to work independently with a moderate level of supervision and some latitude for judgment and discretion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of basic financial concepts used to evaluate investments and build models, such as simple cash flow analyses, time value of money, return on investment, etc.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation, determination, and initiative in a team environment
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail. Very strong ability to multitask
  • Open to heavy travel
