Responsibilities

WHY IS THIS ROLE VALUABLE 

The AVP P&C Business Partner for BRE Hotels & Resorts is responsible for developing and executing the human capital agenda in support of overall business objectives and strategic direction of BRE, specifically in the areas of talent management; change management; organizational and performance management; training and development; and compensation. The AVP, P&C Business Partner provides strategic leadership by articulating people and culture needs and plans to the BRE Senior Leadership Team, Blackstone Asset Management Team, and Blackstone Partners.

 

HOW DO YOU ADD VALUE

  • Provides input and influence on the strategic direction of BRE Hotels & Resorts by serving as a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, front line managers and their teams on a wide variety of issues
  • Establishes and implements people and culture efforts that effectively communicate and support BRE’s mission and strategic vision
  • Drives programs and initiatives to cultivate the desired culture throughout the organization
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Manages and advises on complex organizational design changes at the asset level, including employee furloughs and terminations, as well as rehiring procedures when assets reope
  • Develops comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the business
  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the Senior Leadership Team by overseeing talent acquisition, performance management, career development, retention, and training
  • Provides guidance and input on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Partners with the both the BRE Senior Leadership Team and the Revantage team to create and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with Revantage to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance and partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the Senior Leadership Team by overseeing talent acquisition, performance management, career development, retention, and training
  • Provides guidance and input on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Drives programs and initiatives to cultivate the desired culture throughout the organization
  • Manages and advises on complex organizational design changes at the asset level, including employee furloughs and terminations, as well as rehiring procedures when assets reopen
  • Partners with BRE Asset Management team to drives best in class employee cost structures at current assets
  • Assists with underwriting and diligence of future acquisitions by advising on organizational design optimization and strategy
  • In partnership with Revantage L&D, identifies training needs for employees and individual executive coaching needs
  • Leads all employee communications initiatives

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Minimum 7 years of generalist experience in Human Resources advising business units on all matters related to people and culture including employee relations, performance management, compensation, talent management and recruitment
  • Minimum 5 years people management experience.
  • Experience in direct compensation planning with a business unit
  • Understanding of employment laws that impact an organization
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills required to present, discuss, and explain complex information to employees.
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to partner with multiple, diverse stakeholders
  • Strong change management skills with the ability to drive organization, process, and technology change
  • Strong team player with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, while thriving in a fast-paced work environment
  • Superb analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in all MS Office products, including knowledge of HRIS related software

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related area, Masters or MBA in related area
  • HR Certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP

Base Salary Range:  $156,000.00 - $175,000.00.This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company’s base salary range for this position.  Actual base salary may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience. 

 

Total Direct Compensation:  This job is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.
