WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The VP, Data & Technology, Insurance and Alternative Solutions (IAS) will be instrumental to helping us achieve our goal of leveraging our scale in the insurance markets to optimize the Total Cost of Risk for Blackstone’s portfolio companies on a global level. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and directing a dedicated team responsible for effectively managing data across Blackstone’s portfolio companies, TPAs, Insurers, Brokers, Revantage and other external vendors. This position will lead an IAS technology team in leveraging advanced analytics to derive valuable insights, facilitating informed insurance procurement and insurance risk management decisions.

Responsibilities

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • This individual’s primary objective is to create and manage key reporting and automation solutions that enable efficient decision-making and reporting by partnering with the IAS and Technology team to contribute to the organization’s ability to make informed decisions.
  • The person would provide a crucial role in driving operational efficiency and optimizing claims handling processes through the implementation of automated solutions in collaboration with the claims team. They will be responsible for managing a skilled team and collaborating cross-functionally with other teams within Revantage.
  • Through technical expertise and understanding of emerging technologies, they will leverage tools such as Origami, Power BI, Tableau, and Snowflake to develop insightful dashboards, automate claim reporting, and establish efficient workflows. While maintaining and fostering relationships with 3rd party vendors who support this technology and maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace. Through a focus on data-driven innovation, accurate market data, strategic technology initiatives, and performance metrics, the VP will enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Insurance and Alternative Solutions team.
  • Empower expertise by leveraging the team to possess equal or superior expertise regarding our risks compared to the insurance companies, brokers, and bankers enhancing the ability to make well-informed decisions and navigate the complex landscape of risk management. Utilize data and software to innovate and advance the core risk methodology and approach, strengthening the organization's position in the marketplace.
  • Ensure that market data is up-to-date and meets high standards for accuracy and integrity, particularly data collected from non-traditional sources like Blackstone portfolio companies, Third Party Administrators, and insurance brokers.
  • Ownership of our RMIS system, Origami, and vendor relationships by establishing strong relationships that drive the development of roadmaps, aiming to provide improved capabilities and enhanced data management.
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the department to create solutions for various data-related reporting requirements across stakeholders, including Portfolio Companies, Blackstone, insurance carriers, and others. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Develop and oversee a strategic technology roadmap for the department, aligning it with the department's objectives and budget. Ensure that technology initiatives effectively support and enhance the goals of the IAS team.
  • Develop and provide performance metrics to drive accountability within the IAS team. Establish clear goals and measurable targets to assess individual and team performance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/ or a graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (math, engineering, actuarial, finance, economics)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience successfully developing and leading in a data analytics function, preferably insurance or risk related.
  • Extensive experience in claims analysis and data management, preferably within the insurance, real estate, or financial sectors.
  • Good working knowledge of finance, including financial statements, cash flow and ROI analysis.
  • Proven track record of implementing automation solutions and process optimization initiatives.
  • Strong technical proficiency in tools such as Origami, Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, and other data analytics and visualization platforms.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on driving business results and delivering value to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; inquisitive nature and comfortable challenging status quo practices
